The Iowa wrestling team played against the Army on Sunday afternoon after the travel plans for Oregon State went awry.

"Great day for Iowa Wrestling - thank you to Army for coming to wrestle! @FightForIowa," Ryan Ahlers tweeted Nov. 28.

At the Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Sunday, the Iowa men's wrestling team defeated the Army 36-7 despite the fact that they weren't even scheduled to face the Black Knights this season.

It was because of some mechanical problems in the plane that Oregon State got delayed by five hours, Hawk Central reported. Initially, they were supposed to connect in Denver; however, due to this delay, they missed the flight. Iowa initially tried to squeeze in this match on some other day, but because of the Thanksgiving weekend, things didn't work out.

Hawkeye Jesse Ybarra debuted in the Carver-Hawkeye Arena during this match, Hawkeye Sported reported.

"Yeah, how does it impact me? It doesn't impact me," redshirt freshman 125-pounder Ybarra said, The Daily Iowan reported. "I mean, same goal, different team. It doesn't really matter who was on the line. I just had to wrestle my match, keep my hands and feet moving, get to my offense as much as I can." 

Iowa had a 30-4 advantage in takedowns during the match.
